Sod Information for Customer Consideration

MUST READ
Dear Sod Purchaser,
My name is David Smith, President of S & K Sod Company. With almost 40 years in the sod business, I have the training and experience needed to produce lush green grass. I have come to understand that the average consumer often lacks critical knowledge about buying sod prior to the purchase. A great sod analogy is: Sod is much like getting a puppy. It is a living, breathing biological organism. When it is new it requires more attention that when it is mature. With proper nutrients and correct watering it will grow wonderfully. If well tended it offers a return of great satisfaction. If not taken care of properly it can become unruly or sick.
This letter, the S & K website at www.sksod.com and the quarterly S & K Newsletter –
The Turf Times, are provided for all perspective and current customers. Each contains valuable information. Learn about purchasing sod including choosing the correct type of grass for your environment and conditions, site preparation, installation, maintenance and cutting newly installed sod on the website. The newsletter contains information pertaining to sod and the current season of the year.
Sod has environmental limitations. The correct blend of water, fertilizer, sunlight and various fungicides are needed to grow grass vigorously. Sod cannot be laid over existing grass or weeds. The area to be sodded has to be prepared which can include grading, Round-Up, debris removal including dead weeds and grass and watering bare soil just before sod installation. Sod is not carpet. Growing beautiful grass requires work and effort.
I strive to provide the healthiest sod available for my customers. S & K Sod cuts its grass the morning of its delivery. Due to the perishable nature of the product, sod must be installed within 24 hours of delivery or pick-up. Contact from the customer is required within 48 hours of delivery or pick-up of sod to initiate the 30 day warranty. This is to ensure the sod has been installed within the proper time frame needed to promote growth. Sod palletized in excess of 48 hours has a less chance of survival opposed to sod that has been cut, transported and installed in a single day.
The questions I get asked the most are answered on the website FAQ page at www.sksod.com/faq.html. Answers to all of your sod questions can be found by calling the S & K office at 407-892-3400. Please take a moment to subscribe to The Turf Times for grass growing tips and techniques.
Thank you for considering S & K Sod.
